Things to do on the day of our Artist Point Family Photography Session!

When clients book Mount Baker with me, I know it is a trek to get up there (a worthwhile trek, but still), so here are few things that you can do if you get yourself up there with time on your hands before sunset:

1. Hike the Picture Lake TrailThis easy, paved loop trail is ideal for families with young children. It offers stunning reflections of Mount Shuksan and is accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. 
2. Explore the North Cascades Visitor Center in NewhalemLocated about 1.5 hours from Artist Point, this visitor center features interactive exhibits, a kid-friendly discovery room with coloring pages and puppets, and a short boardwalk trail with scenic views. 
3. Participate in the Junior Ranger ProgramThe North Cascades National Park offers a Junior Ranger program with age-appropriate activity booklets. Kids can learn about local wildlife and ecosystems, earning a badge upon completion. 
4. Visit the Original Cascadian FarmApproximately 30 minutes from Newhalem, this farm offers fresh organic produce, ice cream, and beautiful flower gardens. It’s a delightful stop for families to enjoy a treat and learn about sustainable farming. 
5. Enjoy a Picnic at Diablo Lake OverlookThis scenic spot provides panoramic views of the turquoise waters of Diablo Lake. It’s an excellent location for a family picnic and photo opportunities.
