Celebrating Luna | Family Photography after the loss of a child

I had a very special session last month for a family to honor their little love Luna.

As a photographer, capturing this in way that felt joyful was quite important. We lucked out with the prettiest weather and a lovely little moon (so fitting for a session for a Luna) peeking down on us. They brought lovely flowers and a golden moon balloon which caught the sun in the loveliest way.

Auntie and Uncle joined in and it was such a beautiful hour we spent together.

A note from Luna’s mama who, along with her husband, have made themselves available to other parents in grief. I loved what she says about being seen:

“I think the most lovely thing would just be making parents who have lost a child feel seen. Although their family might look different than others, they are still parents and their children will always matter. So I hope this photo session shows them one of the many ways that they can find joy as a family. 

Luna passed away due to Trisomy 18. She was with us for 48 days, but that was enough to change the rest of our lives for the better. Our journey with her meant that John and I can now help support families who have been affected by the same chromosome condition.“
