Yay Winter babies! I had one myself. She is 14 now but there are some challenges to brining a newborn into a PNW winter season.
Thus I will share with you five tips for a cozy start:

- Bundle Up with Layers
Keeping your winter newborn warm is a top priority, and layering is the key to achieving this. Invest in soft, breathable onesies and sleepers to serve as the base layer. Add cozy blankets and swaddles for extra warmth, ensuring that your baby is comfortable and snug. Be mindful of not overdressing, as overheating can be a concern. A hot baby is a an unhappy baby! Cold fresh air is great for little ones so don’t shy away from outside time.
- Invest in Seasonal Baby Gear
Winter brings its own set of challenges, including chilly temperatures and potential snowfall. Invest in winter-specific baby gear, such as a warm and weatherproof stroller cover, a cozy car seat cover, and adorable winter hats to protect your newborn from the cold. - Maintain a Comfortable Indoor Temperature
Create a warm and inviting indoor environment for your winter newborn. Keep your home at a comfortable temperature, paying attention to drafts and cold spots. Consider using a humidifier to combat dry indoor air, which can be exacerbated by heating systems. Dress your baby in breathable layers even indoors to regulate their body temperature. Also keep babies skin in mind- dry sky is more common in winter.
- Find Support + Friends
The PNW can be rough mentally. Some new moms hide away out of fear of sickness but make sure that you add activities to your calendar that support your new mom heart. Other new moms are a great source of support.
- Remember to document!
Summer newborns appear in more photos. When you are outside in the sun, it is easy to snap pics of your little one. Winter babies often aren’t as documented so make sure to keep on fun little photoshoots with them despite the weather outside.
