Here in PNW, every Seattle area Family Photographer is crying every day looking at the rainy forecast. Can you take photos in the rain? Absolutely. Is it fun? Absolutely not.
I try very hard to allow my clients to get the weather like they when they hire me especially since the images they see in all my online portfolios are mostly in pretty golden light. Fall is, undoubtedly, the most popular time for photos. That doesn’t mean that Fall is the BEST time for images. Let me share some reasons you might want to switch it up and consider Spring next year.
Reason One: Weather
In Spring, weather in the PNW especially, is MUCH more predictable. If you do have to reschedule, the weather is only getting better as time moves on- unlike Fall where weather gets worse and worse the longer you have to wait for a break in the rain.

Reason Two: Spring Color
Spring colors in the landscape are way different than fall. I love the brighter colors and flowers in the Spring. Don’t get me wrong, fall tones are gorgeous. But you are trading Fall color in trees for bursts of bright flower color in the Spring. If you have done fall every year, why not switch it up? The landscape colors in Spring might work better for you home decor when it comes time to print.

Reason Three: Different wardrobe choices
We alllll know the go to looks for Fall. It generally involves layers, muted tones, reds, oranges, hats and scarves. Spring could include light pastels and wayyyy fewer layers – think light dresses! Sleeveless! No gloves! Less chance of frozen children + runny noses.

I will be opening my 2022 calendar on Black Friday and there will be Spring session dates to choose from! Mark your calendar on the morning of Black Friday to check my Instagram account to snag your date.
