A few years ago when I decided I wanted to specialize in the niche of adventure family photography, I honestly wasn’t aware I would be able to photograph families in the Olympic National Park as often as I have and it really makes my artist hear sing. Loved the clouds and happy summer
This niche has added so much adventure to my own life. I generally get up to the mountain early and hike and explore new trails. This session, the dad and I met on the trail (not aware of who the other was) because we warned me there was a bear near the trail. I decided to be brave and keep hiking and sure enough, a young black bear was just down the trail in a meadow. He was far enough away that I did not feel threatened or as though I was threatening him but it was a magical thing to see!
I have never had a session where we did not see some of the local wildlife. I feel so lucky to do this work. My summer booked up really fast this year and I imagine the same thing will happen next year- I will be opening up my 2020 calendar with a Black Friday sale so keep an eye out for it if you want to snag one of these sessions.
